British Army Battledress Blouse

Postby Dave_Holden » Mon May 27, 2019 12:02 pm

Something a bit different:

British Army Battledress Blouse in the 1949 Pattern and issue date of 1953. Made from heavy khaki material, with the outside having been brushed to create the softer surface finish. Blouse has only one small tear at the back, possibly mothing. A few loose threads, but overall in excellent shape for a jacket over 60 years old. On both upper arms there are the stripes of Corporal. All buttons and waist belt fixings are present and secure to the jacket.

Internal there is the makers label - "I J & H Mendes Ltd", jacket is sized as a "10".

Thanks for looking

Nice example Dave. Judging by the label a size 10 would be a small men's by today's standards and maybe a medium back in the late 40's early 50's. Regards Mark

I imagine that material to be very itchy (?)

Is this style blouse, the same as a WW2 example Dave?
