101st Airborne white tongue patch

Postby muckaroon1960 » Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:30 pm

New to my collection is a 101st Airborne patch with a white tongue on the eagle. It is a one piece patch with a green outer edge on the main body which is more shield shaped than others and a black edge on the Airborne title. This maybe quite rare as I've seen others with a white tongue and black edging, white tongue and green edging and some with the title attached and others without.
It doesn't fluoresce under UV light and is stitched throughout. I believe it maybe a 101st engineering battalion patch due to the green edge and I've only seen one other which was listed as WW2 and very rare? Anyways I like it and it will look good in the collection.

Great patch Paul. There's more to these than many think with different patterns, designs and eras etc. Wonder if there is a reference book on these? If not there should be. Great addition to your collection. Regards Mark

Great patch Paul. This is the most popular you see for airborne but I didn't realise they were different varieties
