Fascinating pics  strikes me that none seem too pleased to have their photo taken. Obviously their thoughts at the time was not the fact that the photo would forever be 'locked' in time and would be a recorded piece of history for generations to come. Least of all the possibility that it may be seen by a friend or relative back home. Regards Mark

Well spotted Dave. There is a lot of detail in many of these photos and if one takes the time to enlarge each photograph you can find some very interesting stuff indeed. Note he also is wearing a cuff title  Regards Mark

todays pics are of the very desirable fj helmets and every collector should have one of these in their collection but sadly the prices are not the average collectors price unless one wants to get an instant divorce.

Fallschirmjager, probably units recovering their scattered arms drops in Crete, German troops had trouble finding their weapons and had to rely on low caliber smgs and the occasional extended Mauser pistol, until they were successfully resupplied

so many desirable helmets

from a fighting trench, fj's watch action on a neighboring ridge. one man has a crudely fashioned cloth helmet cover secured by a leather strap, another has a camp net on his lid.

the call has to be made

unknown

Dr. med. vet. Bruno Sassen (13 March 1918 – 19 June 2006) was a member of the Fallschirmjäger during World War II and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (German: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. After the war he studied veterinary medicine in Hanover.

Fallschirmjäger, Karl Heinz Becker, Oberleutnant and chief of 11./Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 1 resting sometime after the attack at Heraklion Airfield on the Island of Crete. 20th of May 1941.

If you squint and look very closely you can see a helmet or two in each of these photographs  just thought they were great pics and while helmets may not be the major part in these photo's, they are there and I wanted to post them somewhere on the forum. Since I'm the mod here I thought here is where I will post them
Hope you like them.

Regards Mark.

And some out there suggests that prices are coming down. Can't say I'm seeing it, even taking into account that the dollar has dropped against the green back. Importing them from the US is where it's at unfortunately. Expensive exercise. Regards Mark

Mark-from what im seeing the "every day" helmet has dropped in price a little but if one wants any thing exotic from camo, wire, net or para then the prices have gone up.

Thanks for your feedback on this Pablo and yes I guess it does depend on which sites you visit and what type of helmet you collect. A few years ago a good basic helmet no decal would set you back $500 approx. Now more like $700. Back then you could get a solid single decal for that. Today you are looking at $1000 to $1200 for that helmet. Only see poor quality ( tampered with ) at the old prices now. Gee even asking $400 for Norwegian reissued helmets now. Just my opinion. All great pics Pablo. In the second one it looks like he is signaling to the photographer to get down and judging by the expressions on the soldiers faces it seems quite a tense situation. Great photo  Regards Mark
