netted m-42

Postby pablo10 » Thu Aug 17, 2017 5:13 am

An m-42 was that was found in Denmark, the fish net wires have been dipped in tar and if we look hard we can note the small piece of tar by the left air vent.
The net is attached by small wire hooks mounted to the liner and their is plenty of interaction from the net to the edge of the shell.

Hey Pablo, nice original M42 you have. I like the plain no decal helmets and good ones seem to be getting harder to find. The net is not regulation issue as the Wehrmacht only used one type made of hemp with a distinctive hook attachment. Of course there are plenty of examples of nets used from captured Allied helmets and this may be one. Trouble is trying to prove when it was done, period or post war. Always the case when something is outside regulation issue or improvised. Regards Mark.

It's got a great "worn" look to it Pablo, I wonder who it belonged to, all those years ago?

agreed these are very hard to find, this one came from Denmark and is classic fishing net, it has thumbs up from both waf and here is the reading from
http://www.ghw2.com/topic/43544-netted-m42-helmet/
I'm very pleased with it but as Mark pointed out Id not buy one with out a lot of thumbs up for it as these are another mine field.

im looking for a regulation netted one some day, it would be great to have it as one ie they were war time together but if I cant fine one ill buy a net and add it to a helmet for display.
