Help! German Helmet.

Postby The Devils Bank » Sat Jan 26, 2019 11:01 pm

Can any one here, identify this helmet?

Cost me a tenner, from a mate in work, who says "you collect crap, do you want this?"

The vents seem a trifle odd..

Is it a post war copy?

Any sign of a loop bracket on the back Pete? If so could be Hungarian.

No markings at all? The helmet looks in good shape so probably not German and post war made. Regards Mark

A expert? on these things says this:

"It's a rare unfinished job, note the primer and the vent hole that's not been fully drilled out. So it's all good"!

I'm happy witht that

Got a liner on the way, going to get it painted up and fill with bird seed and let the furry flying things have some dinner.

Should be good to see how they react to their new food bowl

Since been told it is a reproduction helmet.. =))

So, it's going to be done up and used as a bird feeding garden ornament.

Just received a liner for it that fits and some pins are on the way.

No rush and should be quite interesting to see how it comes out..

Quite enjoying this to be honest, quite funny as well.

Not sure who the expert was but pleased to see it work out for you in the end Pete. By the way as you can imagine these helmets were made by the millions. The vent holes were stamped out during the manufacturing process and you do see variations depending on the manufacturer but as you can imagine nobody was "drilling " out each hole on every helmet. Regards Mark.

Now with the pins..

Just needs painting now, but I'm in no rush as I have other helmets that need restoring.

It's coming along nicely though and cheaply

Yep, with the washers (that kept falling inside the helmet).
