Oceanic Review October 13th 1941.

Postby Tailgunnerdownunder » Sat Apr 15, 2017 2:22 pm

A special piece of history that I wish to share with you. This is a two page newsletter printed daily on board an Australian troopship which was heading to North Africa in 1941. It bears the signatures of many of the men aboard and in some cases their service numbers. How many returned to Australia is not known but on this day October 13th 1941 their hopes of a safe return would have been foremost in their mind. Please take the time to read the newsletter as it is a great snapshot of the news of the day and of the happenings of day to day life on board a troopship of the period in WW2.

Regards Mark.

A wonderful look at the news of yesteryear, life aboard a Troopship..

Was this their only connection with the outside world?

I can only guess so Pete. News would have been hard to find back then and probably months old. I guess they had radios along with censorship. Not what we are used to today. Regards Mark.

Thanks Andy  I'm thinking about framing it actually. But need to have a dram with glass on both sides so you still read all the information. Expensive though if you want it done correctly as I've had it priced. Nothing is cheap anymore. Regards Mark.

Thanks Andy I will look into it again because your right it will be worth it as I will never sell it and that way I can display it knowing it's protected behind the glass. When I get it done I will show you.

Regards Mark.
