WW1 German M16 Helmet.

Postby The Devils Bank » Sat Nov 10, 2018 8:34 pm

This helmet was "found" earlier this year in a barn in Austria, or so I'm told.. :-??

It's a great helmet that needs restoring with a liner and chin strap.

A nice decent M16 helmet.

The stamp is "ET6?"

Can't make out the last digit, but looking at the side lugs, it seems to be a "ET62"

Pete you could carefully run a cloth measuring tape around the inside of the helmet where the liner band would sit and see what it measures. Regards Mark

Just done that Mark, and I would say it's a "64".. I thought it was a "62"

I measured the outside of the helmet and knocked off 1cm, which gave it 64cm, I'm more baffled now as ever!

Most liner makers say measure the outside of the helmet?

I can't get a correct measurement from the inside.

Have you tried the same method on another helmet you have were you do know the size? If it works on it then you should have the correct size. Regards Mark
