The Luftwaffe in WW2 in pictures.

Postby Tailgunnerdownunder » Sat Mar 10, 2018 5:16 am

I have found a bunch of photographs covering various planes, locations, personnel and situations concerning the Luftwaffe's involvement in WW2. Thought I would share them in this thread. Please feel free to add some as you wish

Regards Mark.

Since I'm not an expert on identifying Luftwaffe aircraft I was hoping someone may be able to help identify this piece of fine German engineering

In Hungary and Austria its traditional to have a raffle on New Years Day with the lead prize being a live piglet, maybe this photo is related but I have no idea on the flowers.

Hi Mark, the guy in the first picture demonstrating flying with his hands is Adolf Galland who flew with JG 26 in 109's during the Battle of Britain. I have his autograph on a Robert Taylor Print "Duel of Eagles" along with Douglas Bader but the Bader autograph is somewhat faded.

Congratulations on owning such a great item Paul. Love signed items and that is a fantastic print with two of the most famous pilots from opposing sides having signed it. That is something special  Regards Mark

Thanks Pablo for adding some more great photos to this thread. The support is much appreciated. Love the one using the vacuum cleaner? Seriously they did that to clean the outside of aircraft? Never seen such a thing before. Brilliant  Regards Mark

I would agree, I think it's a warm air blower, removing a dangerous build up of ice on the wings and fuselage.

Some amazing pics there Pablo for sure mate. The coloured ones look like they were taken yesterday and how does that crashed plane stay upright or something got it by the tail? Regards Mark
